Hi Everyone
Today I’m here to show you how you can make an adjustable strap to go with your Hippo Hobo. A few of my testers preferred to wear their Hippo’s across their bodies, and a few of you lovely people that have purchased the pattern have indicated you’d be interested in doing the same! So here is a little tutorial to help you achieve that 🙂
Please note, you can actually add this Adjustable Strap to any bag you choose!
What you’ll need:
2 x 1. ” (3.8cm) swivel clasps
1 x 1. ” (3.8cm) slider
Fabric & Medium Weight Interfacing : 54” L x 6” W (137cm x 15cm)
Instructions:
1. Fold 1/2” (1.2cm) of both short short edges, press.
2. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and press. Unfold.
3. Fold the bottom raw edge up to the centre crease line and press.
4. Fold the top raw edge down to the centre crease line. Press into place.
5. Refold along the centre crease line. Press.
6. Topstitch using a 1/8″ (0.3cm) seam allowance.
7. Thread 1″ (2.5cm) of one short end through the middle of the slider, fold. Sew to secure {shown in pink below}.
8. Thread the other end of your strap through one of your swivel clasps.
9. Thread the loose end back through the slider and out the other side – over the top of your previously secured end.
10. Thread the loose strap end through the second swivel clasp 1” (2.5cm) and sew to secure.
Your Adjustable strap is now finished.
