I am so excited to share my newest pattern with you 🙂
Introducing the Hippo Clutch Wallet!
The Hippo Clutch Wallet holds 10 cards, has 4 separate larger pockets for your notes and receipts. It also has a zipper pocket for your coins and a phone pocket. The phone pocket is large enough to fit a plus size phone, but if you have a smaller phone you can carry a little extra in there, for example your keys and some lippy.
What do you need to make this gorgeous wallet?
And…bonus! The Hippo Clutch Wallet matches your Hippo Hobo Bag perfectly too 😉
The finished size of The Hippo Clutch Wallet measures approximately 9” wide x 5″ tall (23cm wide x 12.7cm tall).

This is Charlotte‘s version, isn’t it sweet! I love the pipping on the flaps and little tassel she added to the front of hers so that it would match her Hippo Hobo <3
Charlotte said “I just loved making this!! The construction of this wallet is just so clever, and it’s more of a clutch than a wallet thanks to its size. I’m so happy there’s now an accessory to match to the Hippo Hobo bag!!”
This is Mel‘s gorgeous version! Isn’t this fabric combo just perfect <3
Mel said “I really like it and it’s definitely on the ‘will make again’ list! It’s one of those clever patterns where, along the way you’re thinking “how is THIS going to work?”….but just trust it and it cleverly comes together at the end. Not hard at all, and well written! Perfect match for the Hippo Hobo and will make a great set!”
Nancy’s version is a vision in purple – and isn’t it lovely <3
Nancy said “I really like this pattern it was very cute and it’s a good size. Next time I will use either stiff stuff by lazy girl, or something else instead of the foam which for my taste made it to puffy.”
A great idea to try your own interfacing combo if you prefer 🙂
Mitzi made this pretty version!
Mitzi said “I thought this was a very well written pattern (as all Emma’s are!) Emma is very thorough in walking you through the making of this wallet, making it easy to assemble if you follow the steps exactly as written and going step by step. I think this is an amazing wallet- super functional- with plenty of room for all of your necessities and then some. This wallet also looks like it is super complicated to make, which it’s not – but people will be amazed that it is handmade! I love all the pockets! All the card slots and the way the wallet is assembled is amazing”.
Rose made this awesome ORANGE version! so lovely and bright 🙂
Rose said “It’s a super cute wallet! I want to make some hippo hobos, and can’t wait to make matching wallets!!!”
