The Peekaboo Clutch

peekaboo pattern

Hi everyone!

I have been itching to share my new pattern with you for weeks and weeks!  And don’t kill me, but I actually had it ready for you all a little while ago…but then I decided to add a second style to the pattern, so it was delayed…

But the end result is so lovely I think you can forgive me 😉

The Peekaboo Clutch pattern can be created in two Styles.

Style 1 is an elegant larger clutch bag; it has oval grommet handles and a tab closure that holds the clutch folded in position. The clutch can also be carried unfolded by the oval grommet handles. This clutch has plenty of room within; it also features an internal zip and slip pockets.

Style 2 is an elegant larger clutch bag; it has a small oval grommet and a tab closure. This clutch has plenty of room within; it also features optional internal zip and slip pockets.

The finished size of The Peekaboo Clutch measures approximately 13” wide x 6 ½” tall (folded) or 11 ¾” (unfolded) (33cm x 16.5cm [folded] or 30cm [unfolded]).

This Clutch has been designed to be made using leather/faux leather/vinyl accents however, other fabric types (eg. Quilting Cotton, or another woven fabric) can be used instead.

This clutch doesn’t require a long list of materials, to achieve such a beautiful result…

I recently used my Peekaboo Clutch at my little brother’s Wedding a few weeks ago!  It was the PERFECT clutch to carry a few snacks for the kids as well as all the usual essentials – keys, phone, wallet, a note-card containing the reading I was asked to do and some small makeup items. I also received a number of positive compliments on it during the evening.  Unfortunately I forgot to get a photo of me all dolled up with my clutch…I’ll have to remember to take one of those when I next use it!

Its that time of the post now where we get to ooooohhhh and aaaaahhhhhh over all the beautiful Peekaboo Clutches that were made during testing. Let’s start by having a look at Style 1

Jayne made this beautiful version – red, white and black are such a great colour combination!

Melisa from Melisa Jane made this gorgeous version.  The teal faux leather is just perfect with the tiger print from Tula Pink’s fabric line Eden.

Rachael from Sew Today Clean Tomorrow made this very pretty version with glitter vinyl!  She had this to say about the pattern, “I LOVE IT!!!! It’s a super cute design that is more practical than most clutches (making it appealing to me as I’m really not a clutch person). I found it to be a great sew. It was easy to make, but had enough components to keep it interesting. It was fun playing with oval handles too…even if there were a few colourful words. The instructions were fantastic. Clear and easy to follow, I honestly can’t tell you enough how impressed I am with this pattern!!!”

Melanie from Buntings and Things (and more recently from Love M.E. Patterns), made this fabulous Racoon version (fabric by Tula Pink)!  How awesome is the pattern matching on the racoons nose – you do such fabulous work Mel!

Susan made this stunning grey and yellow version, it’s screaming sunshine and warmth to me 🙂  Susan had this to say, “Another fine pattern Emma! I liked that there were very few pattern pieces and that it was such an easy sew”.

Katie made this awesome version!  How COOL is the Japanese fabric she has used – it reminds me of a tattoo 🙂

Danielle from Paisley Avenue made this beautiful version, the fabric on this one has been perfectly placed don’t you think!

Barbara made this really beautiful purple version – purple is one of my favourite colours, so she was onto a winner with that colour choice 😉  She had this to say, “I actually love her ‘unclutched’ as it shows off the lovely roses better. Thanks for such a lovely pattern Emma. When used as a clutch, I love the carry/feel of it with being able to put your fingers in the oval shape!!”

Nancy made this beautiful version!  How lovely is the fabric she has used here?!

Now lets have a look at the amazing Peekaboo Clutches made in Style 2 during testing…

Maria made 2 this wonderful versions in this style!  Doesn’t this one remind you of the seaside?!

This one is so elegant in black and white!

Danielle from Paisley Avenue made this gorgeous version!  She had this to say, “style 2 is fabulous! I really love it :)”

Susan made this lovely navy, red and white version – this one I can see being great to take on a boating trip 😉 Susan had this to say, “I really like Style 2. It’s a great alternative!”

Peekaboo Clutch 3

Jayne made this stunning little orange number!  That fabric is just sooooo pretty…

Kathleen made this extremely pretty version of style 2!  She wanted to tell you all that this pattern is “very well written and has easy to follow instructions.  It results in a great finished bag too.”

Anna  also tested the Peekaboo Clutch for me, and was unable to get the grommets needed in time to test…so she made another alternative…

We are calling this one the Hippo Peekaboo!  Lol 😉
To make this one Anna moved 1/2 her magnetic snap from the body of the bag onto the folded section to keep it closed…she decided she liked it so much she made 2! Anna had this to say about the pattern, “I love the pattern and that its a fast make.”
